Awesome Brazil

In preparation of my trip to Brazil in four months, I created this next playlist. It's mostly MPB (musica popular brasileira). All the nine songs are great. One of the highlights is Jurubeba, played by Gilberto Gil and Jorge Ben from the album Gil e Jorge from 1975. Witty vocals and effervescent guitar playing by both artists as they have fun interacting with each other, constructing rhythmic vocal melodies and later demolishing them to make space for new waves of melodic inspiration. Gil is heard giggling and chuckling throughout the song, and, in the listener's ear, this good energy and childlike playfulness is translated into infectious joy. Check the song out below.
The playlist also includes songs by Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso, and Chico Cesar, among others.

Jazz Evolution

Hello eveyone,
It's been a while I haven't posted anything, but the long wait has been worth it.
Lately, I've been in the mood for jazz, as you can tell from previous posts. I just finished my second playlist on 8tracks.com called Jazz Evolution. It highlights jazz genres from its origins in blues all the way to contemporary jazz. Featured is the first ever blues recording by Mamie Smith with Perry Bardford's Jazz Hounds playing Crazy Blues. Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, etc. are all present as well. I put a lot of time and effort into this one and, in my opinion, it paid off. Check it out.

Today, I am very, very excited to announce a new addition to musicosaurus. 

I will be posting links to playlists that I create from my own music library on 8tracks.com. Youtube videos are very good for certain things, like concert performances and education, but in other cases they can distract from the music. Also, it’s frustrating not finding particular songs that I really wish to share and perhaps, in doing so, save them from obscurity. 

So, without further a due, I present to you the first playlist. 

Jazz Summer features jazz from bebop to bossa nova, from Charlie Parker to Sonny Rollins, with no fillers in between. Made especially to jazz up your summer nights.

Check this song out. I thought it was pretty good. I'm usually not into that whole indie rock thing, but this song has a somewhat different vibe to it. Part retro, part electronic. Pretty catchy stuff.

Don Carlos - Music Crave

Hello everyone!
Hope you're enjoying your Saturday. Today I feel like some more reggae…must be the heat of summer. Here's one of my favorite voices in reggae. Original member in Black Uhuru, Don Carlos had a successful solo career in the 80s.  This one's a cut off his Harvest Time from 1982 (great album from start to finish, btw).
